Option 2: Fishing for your own King George Whiting

However, if you find that you have a bit more time when you arrive in Ceduna you can try your luck at catching and cooking your own King George Whiting off the jetty. You can head to Ceduna’s jetty, or even a 10-minute drive down the road to Denial Bay or 20 minutes down the road to Smoky Bay with jetties in these towns another good option for a fish. If you’re not sure or don’t have what you need for fishing you could try your accommodation kiosk or reception area to see if they have a hand reel or other options available for sale and any advise to help you on your way, or you can try Ceduna Camping and Fishing in the main CBD.

If you’re lucky enough to catch enough fish for tea you can enjoy it in a beer batter, crumbed, grilled or a couple of minutes in the microwave with garlic butter, depending on how you like it. If you catch enough for more than one night, you can freeze it for a yummy meal further down the track. King George Whiting that has been cleaned and rinsed in saltwater and frozen fresh will easily last in the freezer for up to six months and still be delicious to eat.
